KATMANDU A Bolivian climber scaled the world's highest mountain to become the first native American to achieve the feat, the Nepalese Tourism Ministry said Tuesday. Bernardo Guarachi, a 43-year-old professional climber from Santa Anita, reached the 8,848-meters (29,028 feets) summit of Mount Everest on Monday and spent one hour there, the ministry said. Two British mountaineers also reached the summit three hours after Guarachi reached the top.
